Kensington is one of the many neighborhoods that makes up the city of Philadelphia. Located in the northeast region of the city, the Kensington neighborhood and many others surrounding it have become home to drugs, prostitution, and violence. However in recent years, neighborhoods bordering Kensington, such as Fishtown and Northern Liberties, have slowly undergone gentrification as new businesses and people move into the area. Now, it’s Kensington’s turn. This blog profiles the people of Kensington – those who live there, those who are leaving, and those who are moving in – to discover whether there is hope for revitalization in one of Philadelphia’s oldest neighborhoods.
